CHANDIGARH: Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who underwent treatment for cancer in the US could be back in the cricket field soon.  He has tweeted that he is making good recovery and looking forward to making a comeback. Yuvraj is targeting T-20 world cup in Sri Lanka. He is hopeful of resuming practicing in the nets by July. He would be working strenuously in gym for weight training session.

Dr. Nitesh Rohtagi, doctor of  Yuvraj, 30 said that he could make a full recovery and resume his cricket career. The cricketer was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, called mediastinal seminoma. Rohtagi said that Yuvraj’s  recovery has been fast owing to the fact that sportspersons set high standards of maintaining their fitness levels consistently.G

“Good day today. Got my blood report and scan report!! I'm in good condition!! I'm so happy to lead a normal healthy life, time to celebrate," the batsman tweeted on Monday.Last week, Yuvraj posted pictures of him working out in the gym with fast bowler Ishant Sharma, and said the two had played a four-over tennis ball match.

However, it would not be an easy task for Yuvraj to regain complete fitness and become match-fit for international assignments. He has been a  quality player in one-dayers and T-20 but has not been able to perform creditably in the longer version of the game, Test matches. Though Yuvraj has lot of cricket left in him and could be asset to Indian cricket team especially in one-day internationals and T-20s.

Yuvraj played his last international match in November 2011.The flamboyant left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh had been instrumental in playing vital role in India winning the 2011 world cup after 28 years. He also holds the world record of hitting six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad in India's 2007 World Twenty20 triumph in South Africa.

Yuvraj Singh says that Cyclist Lance Armstrong has helped him a lot and he was an inspiration in my fight against cancer. He had similar cancer but his was in the last stage and mine was detected at early stage," he said. Yuvraj said his biggest strength was his mother Shabnam.

He said that luckily the cancer got detected early. The presence of my mother gave me strength. I don't think without her I would have made this journey," said Yuvraj. Yuvraj had admitted that he was initially in a denial mode when he was detected with cancer.
